Online Shopping Safety

Whether it's for a holiday gift or an item for yourself, online shopping offers vast selection and great convenience.
However, there are extra security precautions you should take when shopping online. To help keep your online shopping safe,

Remember these helpful reminders for how to safely shop online.
  • Use strong passwords.
  • Use an up-to-d3te browser and security software.
  • Never click on links in e-mails
  • Insist on safer payment methods, such as PayPal or credit cards
  • Use common sense - don't fall for offers that sound too good to be true

  • Be particularly cautious about doing business online using wire transfer or other non-secure or hard-to-trace payment methods.
If something should go wrong with the transaction (or the person on the other end really is a crook), your hard-earned money could be lost forever.
Likewise, don't use your debit card online - if the number is stolen, your entire bank account can be wiped out.

Here are some hints for strong passwords:
  • Replace all the ‘a’ with @
  • Replace all the ‘s’ with $
  • Repalce any space with %
  • Replace any ‘o’ with 0
  • Replace any ‘i’ with !
